Cache Valley winter air: current conditions and forecast
Use Utah's hourly Cache County readings for what monitors show now and the separate three-day forecast for expected conditions and guidance.
A winter inversion is an episode, not a permanent description of Cache Valley. Colder air can become trapped beneath warmer air, limiting normal mixing and allowing pollution to build near the ground. A storm or another weather system can move that air out of the valley.
For what monitors show now, use Utah’s Cache County current-conditions page. It displays hourly PM2.5, ozone, temperature, and wind observations. The page warns that those readings are not quality assured and can change through the day, so one reading is not a promise about the afternoon.
Then open the separate three-day forecast. It reports the highest pollution level expected for each day and provides both health guidance and action guidance. The current page and forecast answer different questions; neither replaces the other.
Check both pages on the day the air matters. Use the current observations for what the monitors are reporting, then follow the forecast’s live guidance for the expected episode instead of relying on an old screenshot or a general impression of winter air.
