Snow College began in an Ephraim co-op

Snow College’s story starts inside Ephraim, not at the edge of a regional map. The school began there in 1888 as Sanpete Stake Academy, with its first classes held in the local cooperative building.

That modest beginning is the clearest link between the institution and the city. The school changed over time into today’s Snow College, but its Ephraim origin explains why a public college remains such a visible local anchor.

The institution now reaches beyond one city. Snow College is a state college with campuses in Ephraim and Richfield, and its current catalog says the Richfield campus complements offerings in Ephraim.
